At Triclimb we are all about designing our toys in At Triclimb we are all about designing our toys in an intentional way that supports a variety of developmental opportunities.
.
Our slide is the perfect example of this. One side is a slide and the other is a climbing ramp. When looking at the climbing ramp side we decided to go with cut outs for the climbing points - Why?
.
Firsly, they allow you to use your attachments straight out of the box. There is no need to add anything to enable your little person to start exploring.
.
They are designed to allow little climbers to grip into them as opposed to onto them (the Triclimb does that job). The climbing points are specifically sized to accommodate little fingers and toes, helping to develop finger and toe strength for your little climbers. The slots are placed at a variety of different angles and there are cutout circles to help encourage contact finger power and strength as they climb up the board. But the fact they are recessed also allows little people to easily slide back down, letting them perfect climbing without external points getting in the way. These cut outs also allow and create space for a variety of other open ended play experiences; colour sorting, counting, bean bag throw etc. The list has been endless and we are incredibly impressed with the way Triclimbers are engaging with the board.
.
Although the climbing ramp has been designed as a stand alone product on or off the Triclimb, we do have Miri sticks for the slots that will allow little climbers to experience the climb with external points; they also double up as a ball run. They connect without the need for tools etc. and are designed to be taken out when not required for climbing. When inserted, they use friction to lock in place as your little climber climbs up and like the Tricimb and Miri they have been tested to withstand 100kg. We are currently working on more additions that will fit the existing cutouts on the same premise – so watch this space.

The Speebelovend Giant Pegs are back in stock at @babipur

We love the way thy can be used to peg sheets, silk scarves or fabrics onto the back of a chair, clothes horse or @Tri_climb to make a play den, or take them outside to hang fabric and toys off trees. They can also be used as tongs to pick up toys and separate out items in colour sorting games. Creative children can even use them as animal figures - can you see a bunny rabbit or fish?

The pegs can be taken apart to use the components as wooden blocks, and used as boats, waves, benches and tables in imaginative play scenes.

For a tighter grip, add an extra rubber band. In time when the peg no longer opens smoothly, rub a candle along the two

Isn’t it amazing how some games that children play are completely timeless.. we used to play ‘don’t touch the floor!’ when we were kids back in the 80s and 90s and our parents played it in back in the 60s! Remember cushions all over the floor, the sofa sometimes completely taken apart for extra stepping stones 😂

Good morning Triclimbers 💙 Good morning Triclimbers 💙
3 points of contact – what is it and why is it s 3 points of contact – what is it and why is it so important?
.

The Triclimb is safe - super safe, However, there are certain things we all should remember when climbing, whether it be a Triclimb, a tree or a ladder. These are things we also aim to teach little people starting out on their climbing journey. There are safe ways to climb up (and down) and it’s a good idea to instil the most basic skill for climbing as a young age – always engaging three different points of contact or ‘The Rule of Three’. This helps reduce the likelihood of a fall just in case one point of contact slips or fails, but it also makes climbing easier. There are other climbing techniques such as staying as close to the body of the item being climbed, or maintaining an upright position for more stability, etc. . This “Rule of three” was in the back of my head as I was designing the Triclimb. One place it shows up is in the design of the top of the unit, where we’ve gone for a dual-top-rung system. The Triclimb is an angled unit, which means that whichever rung you put your weight on, the downward force is always applied within the footprint of the unit - so you don’t need to worry about tipping. That means that we can safely have two rungs at the top of the unit instead of a single rung without affecting stability. And two rungs provides two distinct points of contact as the child climbs over the top of the unit– the hardest part of the climb – and helps them maintain the Rule of Three. Anyone who’s ever tried to climb up and over a gate will know it’s not an easy thing to do – this is in part because as you go over the top you’ve only got one central narrow point to grip onto – both hands have to be in the same place which means less stability for your body. The second top rung provides a second point of contact for the child to ”reach over” and spread their weight over a wider area.
.

Oh, and it makes a pretty cool seat too!
.
